Numbered 30 of 75 in Neo Discovery, released in June 2001, Smeargle is a Rare, a Basic Colorless-type carrying 50 HP.

As a Basic Pokémon, Smeargle needs no prior evolution to put into play, which made it a practical card in the era's decks.

Printed on the card, the Smeargle Pokédex entry reads: "A special fluid oozes from the tip of its tail. It paints the fluid everywhere to mark its territory."

Smeargle is a non-holo Rare. In Neo Discovery, value concentrates in the holo rares, so a Smeargle trades modestly, though a clean, well-centered 1st Edition copy in PSA 10 is scarcer than the print run suggests and carries a real premium. Check the live price above for the figure by grade.

On Smeargle, look at the corners and the framed border first. Non-holo Rares took more handling than the chase holos, so a sharp, centered copy of Smeargle in a true PSA 10 is harder to find than the print run suggests.

For Smeargle, check centering by eye, edge whitening on all four sides, and surface under angled light. Non-holo Rares from this era are cheap enough that a PSA 10 submission on a clean Smeargle can make sense.
