The fifteen holos

The fifteen Fossil holos are Aerodactyl, Articuno, Ditto, Dragonite, Gengar, Haunter, Hitmonlee, Hypno, Kabutops, Lapras, Magneton, Moltres, Muk, Raichu, and Zapdos. They use the classic cosmos holo pattern and shipped in 1st Edition and Unlimited. Dragonite and Gengar lead the value, with the legendary birds and Lapras close behind.
The tiers

Dragonite leads on high-grade scarcity and Gengar on fanbase. The next tier holds Lapras, Aerodactyl, and the three legendary birds. Below them, Kabutops, Hitmonlee, Raichu, Muk, Magneton, Hypno, and the quirky Ditto fill out the run. None reach the top tier, but Fossil grades so harshly that even these carry real value in a true PSA 10.
The Ditto curiosity

The Ditto holo is a collector favorite for its art, which shows Ditto transformed mid-pose, and it has a small following of its own. It is a reminder that Fossil value is not only about the headliners. A low-tier holo with a tiny PSA 10 population can be scarcer than a more famous card from another set, which is the recurring lesson of collecting Fossil.
Collecting the run

A full fifteen-card holo run in one variant is the canonical Fossil project. Surface is the grade cap on every card, so build slowly and inspect the holo window first on each. Because the whole set grades low, a complete PSA 10 run is a genuine achievement, and even a mid-grade run displays the full sweep of the artwork that closed the 1999 trilogy.
Common questions
- How many holo cards are in Fossil?
- Fifteen. They are the Rare Holo tier of the 62-card set and hold almost all of the set value, led by Dragonite and Gengar, with the legendary birds and Lapras close behind.
- Are mid-tier Fossil holos worth grading?
- Often yes. Fossil grades so harshly that even lower-tier holos are scarce in PSA 10. A common-looking Fossil holo in a true 10 can be scarcer than a more famous card from another set.
- What is the Fossil Ditto holo?
- A collector-favorite holo showing Ditto transformed mid-pose. It is a low-tier card by value but has a small dedicated following for its unusual artwork.
