Dewgong · XY Evolutions, what to know.
About the Dewgong card
Numbered 29 of 113 in XY Evolutions, released in November 2016, Dewgong is a Rare, a Stage 1 Water-type carrying 120 HP.
It evolves from Seel, so Dewgong is a later-stage card that set-builders usually slot into a full evolution run rather than buy alone.
Illustrated by Mitsuhiro Arita. Arita painted the Base Set Charizard and much of the early holo run, and his work has a painterly weight that set the visual tone of the Wizards era.
Dewgong carries this Pokédex flavor text: "Its body is covered with a pure white fur. The colder the weather, the more active it becomes."
About Dewgong in the Pokémon world
The fully evolved Seel. Larger, more elegant silhouette. Base Set Uncommon. Steady raw demand.
What is Dewgong worth?
Dewgong is a non-holo Rare. In XY Evolutions, value concentrates in the holo rares, so a Dewgong trades modestly, though a clean, well-centered 1st Edition copy in PSA 10 is scarcer than the print run suggests and carries a real premium. Check the live price above for the figure by grade.
Print variants and how to spot them
Confirm the print and finish on Dewgong before pricing it, since variant and rarity set the market more than the card name alone.
Grading and condition
Dewgong grades on centering and edges more than surface. The card was played and traded more freely than the holos, so a clean, well-centered Dewgong is worth more than collectors assume.
If you are collecting Dewgong
For Dewgong, check centering by eye, edge whitening on all four sides, and surface under angled light. Submission math on Dewgong rarely works unless the card has independent demand.
