Starmie · XY Evolutions, what to know.
About the Starmie card
Starmie is card 31 of 113 in XY Evolutions, released in November 2016, a Rare. It is a Stage 1 Water-type with 90 HP.
As a Stage 1, it evolves from Staryu, which places Starmie deeper in its line and means most collectors hold it alongside the cards it evolves from.
Illustrated by Keiji Kinebuchi. Kinebuchi contributed a smaller body of Wizards-era cards but is responsible for several memorable holos, with a warm, heavily textured style.
The card's flavor text gives Starmie a line of lore: "This Pokémon has a geometric body. Because of its body, the locals suspect that it is an alien creature."
About Starmie in the Pokémon world
The fully evolved Staryu. Two starfishes stacked, faceted center jewel. Fossil Rare with steady demand.
What is Starmie worth?
Starmie is a non-holo Rare. In XY Evolutions, value concentrates in the holo rares, so a Starmie trades modestly, though a clean, well-centered 1st Edition copy in PSA 10 is scarcer than the print run suggests and carries a real premium. Check the live price above for the figure by grade.
Print variants and how to spot them
Confirm the print and finish on Starmie before pricing it, since variant and rarity set the market more than the card name alone.
Grading and condition
Starmie grades on centering and edges more than surface. The card was played and traded more freely than the holos, so a clean, well-centered Starmie is worth more than collectors assume.
If you are collecting Starmie
For Starmie, check centering by eye, edge whitening on all four sides, and surface under angled light. Submission math on Starmie rarely works unless the card has independent demand.
