Flareon

Flareon is card 3 of 64 in Jungle, released in June 1999, a Rare Holo. It is a Stage 1 Fire-type with 70 HP.

As a Stage 1, it evolves from Eevee, which places Flareon deeper in its line and means most collectors hold it alongside the cards it evolves from.

Illustrated by Kagemaru Himeno. Himeno is one of the most-recognized vintage illustrators, with a softer, more textured style that shows up across the Jungle and Neo runs.

The Pokédex entry printed on Flareon reads: "When storing thermal energy in its body, its temperature could soar to over 1600 degrees."

Based on recent eBay sales, raw copies trade from $58 to $178 depending on the print and a PSA 10 runs from $494 to $2,400. The 1st Edition print is the most valuable, with a PSA 10 near $494. The table on this page breaks the price down by print and grade, updated 2026-05-28.

Jungle shipped in 1st Edition and Unlimited, with no Shadowless print. The Edition 1 stamp under the artwork separates the scarcer 1st Edition Flareon from the Unlimited copy. The set also has the famous No Symbol error from its first print run, which adds a premium when the lower-right set symbol is missing.

Flareon lives and dies on its holo surface in grading. The fire foil catches light at angles that hide hairlines in a flat photo, so tilt it under a lamp, then measure the borders, where Wizards-era centering is the second-most-common grade cap.

If you are buying Flareon, work in order: confirm the print variant first, then the grade, then price against recent sales for that exact variant and grade. For a raw Flareon above a few hundred dollars, insist on angled-light photos of the holo so you can spot hairlines.
