Mr. Mime

Mr. Mime is card 22 of 64 in Jungle, released in June 1999, a Rare. It is a Basic Psychic-type with 40 HP.

As a Basic Pokémon, Mr. Mime needs no prior evolution to put into play, which made it a practical card in the era's decks.

Illustrated by Ken Sugimori. Sugimori is the lead character designer of Pokémon itself, so his card art carries the tight, on-model look that defined how the creatures appear in the games.

The Pokédex entry printed on Mr. Mime reads: "If interrupted while miming, it will slap around the enemy with its broad hands."

A psychic-fairy mime Pokémon. Famously paired with Ash's mother in the anime. Jungle holo Mr. Mime is one of the quieter holos in the set. Steady graded demand.

Mr. Mime is a non-holo Rare. In Jungle, value concentrates in the holo rares, so a Mr. Mime trades modestly, though a clean, well-centered 1st Edition copy in PSA 10 is scarcer than the print run suggests and carries a real premium. Check the live price above for the figure by grade.

Jungle shipped in 1st Edition and Unlimited, with no Shadowless print. The Edition 1 stamp under the artwork separates the scarcer 1st Edition Mr. Mime from the Unlimited copy. The set also has the famous No Symbol error from its first print run, which adds a premium when the lower-right set symbol is missing.

Non-holo Rares like Mr. Mime are easier on surface but no kinder on centering. Wizards-era cards were less protected than the holos, so high-grade Mr. Mime survivors can be scarcer than expected, with edge whitening the usual cap.

For Mr. Mime, check centering by eye, edge whitening on all four sides, and surface under angled light. Non-holo Rares from this era are cheap enough that a PSA 10 submission on a clean Mr. Mime can make sense.
