Vaporeon

Vaporeon is card 28 of 64 in Jungle, released in June 1999, a Rare. It is a Stage 1 Water-type with 80 HP.

As a Stage 1, it evolves from Eevee, which places Vaporeon deeper in its line and means most collectors hold it alongside the cards it evolves from.

Illustrated by Kagemaru Himeno. Himeno is one of the most-recognized vintage illustrators, with a softer, more textured style that shows up across the Jungle and Neo runs.

The card's flavor text gives Vaporeon a line of lore: "Lives close to water. Its long tail is ridged with a fin that is often mistaken for a mermaid's."

Based on recent eBay sales, raw copies trade from $11 to $28 depending on the print and a PSA 10 runs from $255 to $726. The 1st Edition print is the most valuable, with a PSA 10 near $726. The table on this page breaks the price down by print and grade, updated 2026-05-29.

Jungle shipped in 1st Edition and Unlimited, with no Shadowless print. The Edition 1 stamp under the artwork separates the scarcer 1st Edition Vaporeon from the Unlimited copy. The set also has the famous No Symbol error from its first print run, which adds a premium when the lower-right set symbol is missing.

Vaporeon grades on centering and edges more than surface. The card was played and traded more freely than the holos, so a clean, well-centered Vaporeon is worth more than collectors assume.

For Vaporeon, check centering by eye, edge whitening on all four sides, and surface under angled light. Non-holo Rares from this era are cheap enough that a PSA 10 submission on a clean Vaporeon can make sense.
