Dragonite

Dragonite is card 19 of 62 in Fossil, released in October 1999, a Rare. It is a Stage 2 Colorless-type with 100 HP.

As a Stage 2, it evolves from Dragonair, which places Dragonite deeper in its line and means most collectors hold it alongside the cards it evolves from.

Illustrated by Kagemaru Himeno. Himeno is one of the most-recognized vintage illustrators, with a softer, more textured style that shows up across the Jungle and Neo runs.

The card's flavor text gives Dragonite a line of lore: "An extremely rarely seen marine Pokémon. Its intelligence is said to match that of humans."

Fossil shipped in 1st Edition and Unlimited, with no Shadowless print. The Edition 1 stamp under the artwork separates the scarcer 1st Edition Dragonite from the Unlimited copy.

On Dragonite, look at the corners and the framed border first. Non-holo Rares took more handling than the chase holos, so a sharp, centered copy of Dragonite in a true PSA 10 is harder to find than the print run suggests.

For Dragonite, check centering by eye, edge whitening on all four sides, and surface under angled light. Non-holo Rares from this era are cheap enough that a PSA 10 submission on a clean Dragonite can make sense.
